Analogic Corporation Receives New Order for Its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography Systems

PEABODY, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 26, 2006–Analogic
Corporation (NASDAQ: ALOG) announced today that the Company has
received a new order for its EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography
(EXACT) Systems from L-3 Communications’ (NYSE: LLL) subsidiary,
L-3 Communications Security and Detection Systems, Inc. Under terms of
the order, Analogic will ship units valued at a minimum of $31,000,000
and a maximum of $36,000,000 beginning in October 2006 and continuing
through January 2008.

The EXACT is the heart of L-3’s eXaminer 3DX®, a certified
Explosives Detection System (EDS) that has been installed at many
major airports across the United States. Boston’s Logan International
Airport, a world leader in aviation security, has 44 units. More than
650 systems are installed in airports around the world, including
Israel’s new Ben Gurion terminal.

John Wood, Analogic President and CEO, said, “The recent terrorist
threats in London reinforce the importance of having advanced
screening systems in place for both checked and carry-on baggage. We
expect that a number of units from this new L-3 order will be upgraded
to our new AN6400, once the final field trials for Analogic’s new
upgrade kit are completed at John Wayne Airport in Orange County,
California. Those trials are scheduled to begin in October.” The U.S.
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) certified the AN6400, a
major system upgrade for existing EXACT systems, in May 2005. The
upgraded system is marketed worldwide by L-3 as the eXaminer 3DX
6500D. Analogic’s upgrade kit was developed as part of the TSA’s
Phoenix Category I Program, and includes a significant reduction in
the false-alarm rate, increased throughput to 550 bags an hour,
dual-energy detection capability, and an entirely new workstation with
advanced 3-D threat-imaging software.

Analogic Corporation is a leading designer and manufacturer of
advanced health and security systems and subsystems sold primarily to
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The Company is recognized
worldwide for advancing the state of the art in Computed Tomography
(CT), Digital Radiography (DR), Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging
(MRI), and Patient Monitoring.
