Checked Baggage Applications
Analogic is recognized as a leading OEM supplier of advanced aviation security imaging equipment. As part of a government-funded grant to develop a checked luggage screening system, Analogic developed the first explosives detection multislice CT system in 1997, the only system able to generate 3-D images of the entire contents of a bag or parcel. Analogic is continually working to develop even more advanced systems to meet the growing demands of airports and air travelers. Our systems are designed to detect a multitude of threats in a variety of airport settings, including the airports not equipped with inline baggage handling systems. AN6000 EXACT® EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography Analogic developed the EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography (EXACT) system (AN6000), the first explosives detection multislice CT system. The EXACT is the heart of the L-3 Communications government-certified eXaminer® 3DX EDS systems, installed in airports around the world to screen baggage for explosives and other threats that could bring down an airplane. Analogic’s EXACT is first single-unit, second generation EDS to be certified by the United States Government. The EXACT, as part of the eXaminer 3DX, was the first system designed to be networked for use in-line. Over 750 EXACT systems are installed in airports around the world, including 44 units at Boston’s Logan International Airport, a world leader in aviation security, as well as in Israel, Italy, the UK, Singapore, Japan, and Mexico. The EXACT:
Working with L-3 Communications, Analogic is continually working to improve the eXaminer by adding capabilities and incorporating design changes that will protect our supply of critical components over time. The hardware upgrades that we develop will enable airports to upgrade eXaminer systems already in the field. ANCX00 KING COBRA Automatic Explosives Detection System Under another TSA contract, Analogic has modified the COBRA® design and architecture to create the KING COBRA, a reduced-size EDS system for checked baggage for small and mid-sized airports. The system is fast, efficient, and cost effective, and is scheduled to be submitted for certification later this year. The KING COBRA may be used to scan both checked and carry-on baggage at the same, smaller airports. The KING COBRA:
XLB1100 Automatic Explosives Detection System The XLB (eXtra Large Bore) is an entirely new generation of more advanced, networkable EDSs for checked baggage for aircraft. Screeners see enhanced, 3-D, real-time images of the complete bag and threat objects, and a high-resolution 2-D projection image of all the contents in the bag. The XLB is scheduled to be submitted for certification late this year. The XLB:
