Analogic Corporation and Schaerer Mayfield
Sign Joint Agreement for Imaging in the Operating Room
and the Intensive Care Unit
PEABODY, MA (October 18, 2004) John Wood, President and CEO of Analogic Corporation (NASDAQ: ALOG), announced today that Analogic and Schaerer Mayfield USA have signed an exclusive agreement to jointly develop real-time imaging solutions for the Operating Room (OR) and the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The companies are committed to working together to address the rapidly growing needs of surgeons. The continuing growth of minimally invasive surgery is increasing the demand for innovative imaging technology to help surgeons deliver better outcomes for their patients.
Lothar Koob, Executive Vice President of Analogics Medical Systems Division, said, This agreement represents true synergy between a company well established in the Operating Room Schaerer Mayfield and a company that has leading-edge medical imaging technology Analogic. Combining Analogics knowledge of medical imaging with the experience of Schaerer Mayfield in providing solutions for the OR and ICU will enable us to develop imaging solutions that are seamlessly integrated and tailored to the needs of these important niche markets.
This exclusive, world-wide agreement between Analogic and Schaerer Mayfield is exciting for the clinical and financial advantages the combined product range is offering to hospitals, said Mike Roberts, the Chairman of Schaerer Mayfield USA. Schaerer Mayfields historical relationship and clinical experience with Asian, European, and American neurosurgeons show they want access to convenient and relatively low-cost, real-time imaging during OR procedures and in post-operative ICUs. Their objectives are to improve OR clinical outcomes and ICU patient safety, and better manage time and costs. The mobile SCANMATE CT from Analogic, together with Schaerer Mayfields NAVIMATE integrated, image-guided navigation system, and specially designed radiolucent OR tables, provide neurosurgeons with such an offering. We expect a broad market acceptance of this innovative product combination, he said.
