POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring successful completion of all aspects of a products development, execution, and implementation. Participates in customer product requirements discussions and interprets those requirements into real products that meet customer specifications. Leads a multi-disciplinary team that includes internal and external customers, suppliers, agencies, and management to ensure that timelines and budget goals are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Defines and manages the scope, schedule, and budget of the program.
- Assesses resource requirements to achieve program goals. Identifies and coordinates the efforts of various members of cross-functional product development team to meet program and engineering project deliverables.
- Schedules and leads team meetings and ad hoc meetings, as required, in coordinating project activities and managing project issues.
- Manages project communications including meeting minutes, monthly updates, communications meetings, and project tollgates.
- Prepares and reviews functional and design specifications.
- Works with supply chain department to evaluate ‘make vs. buy’ decisions and to identify optimal suppliers.
- Works with corporate, division, and outside agencies to manage and plan submissions to regulatory agencies.
- Leads program decision making process and brings closure to open issues.
- Maintains current program review documentation and provides reports on progress to division and corporate management.
- Manages design development and release to manufacturing and manages transition to sustaining engineering.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Must possess technical knowledge and breadth of experience over a wide range of technical and engineering disciplines.
- Must possess solid business acumen, strong leadership skills, and analytical proficiency
- Must possess strong problem solving skills, including the ability to anticipate and recognize issues, analyze risks, consider options, and make decisions to drive results.
- Must be familiar with project management software.
- Must be able to function in a changing, high-impact position with deadline and resource limitations.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of technical management, internal and external customers and suppliers, and outside agencies.
- QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA in engineering or science discipline or equivalent and more than twelve years of related experience is required. Must have experience developing systems level engineered products using a structured product development process. Masters degree in technical field or MBA highly desirable.
Must have experience managing product development programs with successful financial outcomes. Digital imaging experience a plus.
